The King's Taster Does Some Light Reading

Forgive me for stepping out of my role for a moment but after recently reading "Alexander Goes Out to Eat" by Marguerite M. Furlong I felt the need to write a book review.  It is one in a series of books about the main character Alexander, an elephant that suffers from a peanut allergy. The book begins with Alexander feeling socially left out. Unlike his friends he has never experienced eating at a restaurant because of his families anxieties over his food allergies. His parents, at Alexander's request, agree to give eating out a try and they develop a plan to have a safe dining experience. This book is a great way to introduce how to eat out safely to your child and it discusses the feelings of anxiety and sadness that often accompany dining out in families with food allergies. We recommend this book for children five and under.
